Lust

A friend brought in Dazed & Confused to the PSC class tonite and allow me the opportunity to meet my new lust in that Über cool magazine.

Without further ado, let me I introduce you to ...

"the Viktor & Rolf designer house"

Thanks to Viktor And Rolf's Surrealist Gowns...Perfect For The Red Carpet? - Magazines at Refinery29.com for the images.

!!!!!
Aren't those dresses SIMPLY SPECTACULAR or what?
Those colours are also totally up my ally!
MMmmmm... I so wish I could touch the dresses, and if they are for eating purposes, I would imagine they taste extremely scrumptious.
"Viktor & Rolf", you might just beat Chocolate Soufflé to the top of my desire list!

Some more links on their gorgeous design (just because I can!)...

Not too sure why, but I've recently gotten more and more addicted to "expensive" clothing.
Luckily, the addiction only goes as far as looking at them - so far anyway...
Can't quite afford to be addicted of buying them if I am considering career swap.
Even if I don't consider it, I'm not quite confident that I will be making use of those expensive designer clothing correctly.

Btw - the clothing pieces in ShopBop are rather yummy too, but not comparable to "Viktor & Rolf".... :)

Happy New Year 2010

"Hope you all had a somewhat safe and EXTREMELY joyful New Year's Eve.

Cheers to 2010!
The year when great things happen - for ALL of us!"

What I wore on NYE ;) (Hmmm... Photo missing pretty black clutch from Louisa & my pretty peep toe heels isn't visible either... :P)

Sweeney Todd (2007)

My tagline for the movie: "I wish I sew!"

It's dark but beautiful. The scenes are captivating. A bit much singing and blood for my liking but the actors are awesome (not so sure about the little boy).

One thing is certain: the dress that Mrs. Lovett worn last is STUNNING! I can't get my eyes off it. It's simply beautiful, with the bodice, the lace, the colour, the tiers.

No - I'm not the only one! A girl was looking for someone to sew the dress for her Halloween wedding (Etsy Alchemy Request) and posted some really good photos (final scene dress pictures by matashavexen - Photobucket).

If I were ever going to any Halloween or Costume party, that would be "THE" dress!
I would so love to have the dress! But it cant be cheaply sewn one - it has to be done awesomely - with high quality lace etc. It's the glamour and the shine of the dress that makes it!

The colour isn't quite right in the photo above but it does show the dress details very well. Do you think they sell the dress? If so, where? Hmmm!

25th Post: Dressed Up & Discounted Ladies Clothing Online Shops

Guess what I found today!
It's not precious enough to be a treasure, but it is definitely interesting enough for me to blog about.

Check out DressedUp...

It is not just one of those ladies' fashion online store which seems to pop up in every corner of the web these days.
It is pretty smartly different. :)
Here, you get to borrow the designer dresses instead of buying them (though it is still an option). How lovely!

The price is pretty decent or so I think on my first glance.
A 7-days hire of a lovely black wrap dress from Wayne Cooper costs $59 (cleaning inclusive!) whereas buying it would have set you back at $299.
There is the $14.95 flat rate courier cost Australia nation-wide, metropolitan area (which includes the cost of returning the items to DressedUp).
There is also a maximum of 3 items per individual customer at any one time.

For more information, have a look at their How It Works page.
The FAQ list is pretty extensive, but one combination of 2 questions in it (i.e. "If the garment is in transit to Dressed Up on the 8th day will I still be charged?" and "What if I am not home when the courier arrives with my garment?") actually raised a new question for me.
Hmm.. "does the rental days start when we received the item, or is it when the courier first try to deliver the item?"
Hope is the earlier one.

This must be one of my better find from Cleo magazine.
I flicked through the interview of the business owner for this website last night when I was waiting for our meals at Joe's Garage (I had one very yummie burger which unfortunately comes with not so crispy fries...)

If - however - you are looking for the normal ladies clothing online shops, my most recent email from Sales Guide enlisted the following sales:
  • Gosh Celebrity offers sale items up to 40% off & free delivery for orders above $150;

  • Cadelle offers bags which are 70% off retail prices (price ranges between $25-$150;

  • Viva La Frock offers 25% off storewide with the VIP code 'salesguide'.

Happy Shopping, Ladies!

Go AUD!!!

Do you know ...
... that it is much quicker and it will cost me less to buy one single book from Amazon (USA) and get it shipped to Melbourne, Australia than to pre-order one off the Australia Online Bookshop? Check this out!

It is insanely incredible!

I can't help but dream about the amount of shopping I can do if I'm now back in New York. Ah.. the pretty clothes, the awesome designer sales, the shops in Soho, the factory outlets.... and not to mention the AWESOME food options...

Screeeeekkkkk (you know that sound in the ad/TV shows where they play the sound of someone hitting hard on the car break?)... enough dreaming! For now - I only get to settle with whatever is available online for browsing (and buying...). Check out Forever 21 (flat rate shipping cost to Australia at USD$34.95 for orders above $100), NY & Company (unfortunately doesn't ship to Australia - their stuffs are just wickedly priced!) and H&M (I don't think they do online selling...).

I've bought a few books off Amazon (I Love Your Style: How to Define and Refine Your Personal Style (Paperback) by Amanda Brooks and Instyle the New Secrets of Style (Hardcover) by Instyle Magazine Editors). Tee hee hee. Can't wait to receive them!

Anyways - I'm off - back to work! Have a great day everyone!

P.S.: I find the book that I used as an example above (Closet Confidential: Style Secrets Learned the Hard Way (Paperback) by Winona Dimeo-Ediger very tempting. The author is a pretty decent fashion blogger, check out Daddy Likey. But I do have the 2 fashion books on the way... It feels a bit rich & spoilt to get another one, don't you think? ;P

A Day in the Life of a Betts Fashion Buyer in New York

There is just something about New York City that attracts me like a GIANT magnet (I'm sure I'm not the only one). I was there for nearly a month in December 2008 / January 2009 for my honey-holiday (check out photos links below) and it was NOT enough. I want to go back there...

That's when I stumbled upon Betts' advertisement, Be Surprised - Win a Trip to New York - Betts - Women's and Men's Fashion Shoes.
Whoaaa - Are you kidding???
I registered immediately, then sit and keep mumbling to myself "ohhh - pick me, pick me, pick me, pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..... Please just pick me!!!" (Not that I think this will work...)

Until I get distracted by this cute "FANCY" clutch at Betts' online shopping site (image attached).

Then - I remembered that I have to blog about my experience with Betts as part of the condition of entry to win the NY trip. I hope this will do.

Here's the US Honey Holiday photos links from last year:

With this post, I'm desperately hoping that I'll get to go to New York again soon.
This time I'll get to take ultra cool photos with my lovely Nikon D60! ;)

P.S.: Betts - if you let me win, I'll tell everyone how great Betts is! :) tee hee hee...

Festival Indonesia 2009 & DFO South Wharf

Festival Indonesia 2009 was held at Federation Square this weekend (Website). There were lots of good homey food (pictured in the left side thumbnails) readily made available at a convenient spot (Melbourne CBD) in comparison to the usual suburban locations of the restaurants. I don't normally get access to these foods unless I went home for holiday (which is pretty much yearly) or when my mum come and cook for us (which is also pretty much yearly - if not twice a year) - so it was a really good occasion... :P

Plus - I got to catch up with my siblings, Louisa and Lia! Superb!!!

For further explanation on what's what in terms of the food - please refer to List of Indonesian Dishes (Wikipedia). It's a pretty extensive list. ;)

Afterwards - me and Lia head out on an unpredictably-big journey to the DFO South Wharf. It wasn't exactly easy to find and definitely not as convenient as the Spencer St DFO (for public transporters like me & Lia). If you are heading there - I suggest you print this location page out as a guide. Also, head there early!

On the bright side - we got to see the "Melbourne Convention Centre" which is a quite pretty building for photos. Plus, the new DFO does offer perks such as bigger and shinier stores; more store options; and better value items than Spencer St.

I score a ultra gorgeous frilly black skirt and a nice simple silk blend grey dress from Forever New for under $65 (they are having "buy 1 sale item, half price 2nd sale item" combo!)! Also - finally got the stylish blazer jacket that I've been looking for quite some time now from Garfunkle for $40. The skirt and the blazer look "oh so gorgeous" together.. Yeah!

Will add pics of the items tomorrow. ;)

Good night now!

26th October 2009 Here's the pics -^.^-...

The Clothing Exchange in Melbourne

Me and Lia (my gal-pal!) arrived at BMW Edge in Federation Square today at about 6.45 p.m. with our satiated belly (we just had dinner at Dessert House in the Chinatown). It's our first visit to The Clothing Exchange event and we are very excited!

I've been to "For Better or Purse" twice before, which has similar concept of cloth swapping with small differences, e.g. item categorisation (some cost more and some cost less) and it came with mini cupcake and a glass of wine to start (refer my old post: "a chatterbox's pensieve: For Better or Purse). For some reason that is unknown to me - that event has stopped happening since late last year.

It is a quite enjoyable way of shopping - offering your incorrect impulse purchases and going home with different pieces. Plus - it is somewhat good for the environment (well - if there is less demand for new clothes from the shop - hopefully soon enough they'll produce less?).

It is quite reliant on the number of people attending obviously (more people = more options) - hence I was pretty pleased to see that the place is quite crowded when we got there today. So Melbournian - spread the word. Come and join on the fun in the next session on 7th December 2009. Let's have fun!

The entry fee is $20 but it was totally worth the money. Great venue, super friendly hosts, and the yummy lolly (especially the bananas!) when you are queuing simply makes the event.

We both have a lot of fun and I went home with 5 satisfying pieces!

I might post some photos on my items later - for now the description would have to do!

I got a gorgeous mini denim skirt, a look-totally-brand-new J.Lo white casual pants, a casual Billabong skirt (dark green almost blue not sure which - yes I am colour blind when it comes to blue & green :P), a bright blue Paul Frank short thick jacket with hoodie, and a cute pretty grey strap-top from Forever New (Lia's cast off! :P).

Thanks Clothing Exchange!
